Avijit Das
Avijit was initiated into Bharatanatyam at the age of 5 under the guidance of Smt. Sanaka Biswas of Shanti Niketan. Avijit is also a product of Chennai’s Kalakshetra (Rukmini Devi college of fine arts) having completed the 4yrs diploma through a merit scholarship. He further developed a keen interest in Kuchipudi and started learning initially from the Chennai Kuchipudi Art Academy under the renowned Kuchipudi guru, Sri Vempati Chinna Satyam, and is now currently pursuing his training with the legendary Kuchipudi exponent Smt. Manju Bharggavee in Bangalore.
In Avijit’s own words, ‘Dance is my life. I am a trained Bharatanatyam dancer and aspire to be a performer of both Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam. I have a great interest in contemporary dance as well. Whatever I do, each activity of my day is aligned to further my dance in one way or another. Dance is at the very centre of everything for me. Like my breath.’
